Workforce Carolina is among this year’s nominees in the Triad Business Journal’s annual “Best Places to Work” competition. The company, with offices at 711 W. Independence Blvd. in Mount Airy (in the New Market Crossing shopping center) and at 1810 N. Bridge St. in Elkin, is among 10 nominees in the small-business category.
Founded in 1987 by Teresa Lewis, and still 100 percent woman-owned, Workforce Carolina employs approximately 3,000 people annually, placing them at job sites in Alleghany, Forsyth, Iredell, Surry, Stokes, Wilkes and Yadkin counties in North Carolina and in Virginia’s Carroll, Grayson and Patrick counties. (See current job openings here.) Workforce Carolina ranked as Surry County’s fifth-largest employer in 2006.
The Triad Business Journal last year listed Workforce Carolina among the region’s 50 fastest-growing independently owned businesses.
Winners of the “Best Places to Work” awards will be announced during a ceremony and reception at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at North Carolina A&T University’s Alumni Foundation Center in Greensboro. Tickets cost $40 per person. For reservations call (336) 271-6539 or register online.
