August 5th, 2007 · No Comments

B. Mark Rogers of Rogers Realty and Auction Co. in Mount Airy was elected treasurer of the National Auctioneers Association at the 58th International Auctioneers Conference and Show in San Diego.

Rogers is an accredited real-estate auctioneer (AARE) and certified by the Auctioneer Institute (CAI). He has been an NAA board member and is a past president of the North Carolina’s Auctioneers Association as well as a Hall of Fame member. He specializes in commercial brokerage and site selection work.

Also at the convention, Rogers’ son Dustin finished as second runner-up in the International Junior Auctioneer Championship. Competitors sold two items to the audience and were judged on their presentation, chant, voice quality, and body language. This was the first time the competition was held before a live audience. Dustin received a $250 cash prize.

Dustin is a third-generation auctioneer. He graduated from the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in August 2004, where he was named “Best All Around.” In January, he was named Champion Rookie Auctioneer for the Auctioneers Association of North Carolina. He is a member of both the North Carolina and National Auctioneers Associations and is licensed in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina.
