Surry County can anticipate nearly $30 million in new construction, according to July’s building permits.
Leading the way are two multi-million dollar projects in Elkin, an $18-million, 221,000-square-foot Wal-Mart and a $4.5-million, 100-room, three-story Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel, both at CC Camp Road and Interstate 77.
Elsewhere in the county, Renfro Corp. in Mount Airy received a building permit for an $890,000 office renovation project on Riverside Drive.
As previously reported by SurryBusiness.com, construction is under way on Dr. Glenn Pfitzner’s new medical office on Rockford Street across from Northern Hospital of Surry County. The building permit is for nearly $700,000.
Carolina Carports, 187 Cardinal Ridge Trail at Dobson, plans to add a $458,459 sales office.
A $317,730 daycare business, owned by Les and Wendi Bennett of Pilot Mountain, will go up at 132 Shoals Road off N.C. 268 southwest of Pilot Mountain.
Hutton Vineyard at 176 Hutton Vineyard Lane, which is owned by Malcolm and Heidi Hutton, received a $269,280 building permit.
