Horne Creek Farm finally will get a visitors center. The state budget signed today by the governor includes a $442,000 appropriation for the project.
One of Surry County’s most often overlooked tourist attractions — and when did _you_ last visit it? — Horne Creek Farm is a working farm operated by the N.C. Department of Cultural Affairs to show how family farms operated in the early part of the 20th century. It also preserves a large collection of heirloom apples in its orchard.
Though the farm has a Pinnacle address, it’s actually just north of Pilot Mountain State Park. Click here for a map.
