The N.C. State Board of Transportation has awarded a $1.6-million contract to Smith-Rowe Inc. of Mount Airy for grading, drainage, paving and structure work at the Community House Road bridge over Ruin Creek in Vance County.
Earlier this summer, Smith-Rowe Inc. won a $7.9-million contract to upgrade the I-40/Harper Road (S.R.1101) interchange east of the Yadkin River in Forsyth County and a $5.5-million contract to replace the Smith River bridge on Meadow Road (S.R. 3003) in Eden in Rockingham County. Work on creating the diamond-type interchange started in June and is to be completed in July 2008. The bridge work was to start this week; completion is scheduled for December 2008.
