Triad-area real-estate brokers sold fewer homes in August that in the same month a year ago, but for a higher average price, according to the Triad MLS (Multiple Listing Service).
There were 1,648 units sold last month, down 3.8 from 2006, but the average price was more than $183,400, a 1.8 percent increase. More than half of the homes were single-family, 3-bedroom units with a median price (half sold for more, half for less) of $140,000 and an average price of $155,170.
North Carolina’s Triad region covers 12 counties, including Surry County. The largest cities are Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.
