The legislature has appropriated $1 million for the new N.C. Green Business Fund. No-interest loans or grants will help small, private businesses (less than 100 employees) move the state’s economy to a more environmentally friendly footing. The top priorities are projects involving biofuels, “green” construction and renewable energy. Related workforce development is included. The State Energy Office in the Department of Administration will manage the program. Watch for more details in the next few months.
